About Us
Antietam Guest House is for you and your family, including your dog, if you want a clean, comfortable, quiet, private, and convenient home to call your own while you explore western Maryland, nearby national battlefields, the C&O Canal Towpath, and Shepherdstown, WV. Daytrips into Baltimore and Washington, DC, are easy to make from Shaprsburg. Historic Antietam Guest House, built in 1856, was the home of Benjamin Bender, a Civil War veteran. The house and 1/2 acre property have changed only to provide guests with modern conveniences. The house sleeps six and has a full kitchen. There is a front porch and back deck for your outside enjoyment. All linens and a continental breakfast are included. We are one block off Main Street; you can walk to three different restaurants and our famous ice cream shop. We have a locked shed for bicycles at the rear of the property that borders a pasture with cows, a huge bull, and a few horses.
